The concept of Kamoro’an is to establish a local brand that both the tribal artists and the community can engage in. In this way, the artists’ no longer needs to invest large amount of time and effort that limited their work to high-priced galleries and small target groups. Instead, the expansion from the artworks not only extends the life cycle of each creation, but also deliver the local stories into broader distribution and customers.

Based on the local shared craft skills of driftwood, umbrella sedge and weaving, the designers translated the art pieces into simplicity designs of home décor accessories and furniture, which the local community can also engage in the production line.

In addition to the collaboration with the Gangkou tribe, the design team tries to match Taiwan’s manufacturing industry to the development of the local business. The introduction of the manufacturing industry can help the tribe to maintain the value chain of the brand, and extend the capability of Taiwan’s manufacturing industry to the cultural creative industry. In the end, the design products are able to be controlled under the costs by complementing with the mass production metal components.
