LABORON SS16 - Shanghai Fashion Week
How best to sum up the mood that emerged from all the action on the Spring 2016 LABORON runway. In a word, experimental. Here was maximalist of new stripes.
The show opened with an interesting twist: A model in a white suit jacket and short loose black and white pants wrapped in ribbon labeled in the name of the brand, established the tone of the collection. The designer duo Joyce Lee and Alex Liu are inspired by different arts in different times. “Experimental clothes is what LABORON is about” they say.
Skirts, jumpsuits, crop tops, coats and pants, there was nothing that was left behind of the basics. The designer duo sent down several excellent, very simple black and white dresses and tops featuring details like cutwork, trims and leather down the runway. From black and white to red leather, and a new print on blue and red silk, gave the collection that full completion that felt fresh.
Then there was the extraordinary dress, no longer in the same silhouette as the previous pieces but rather in an unexpected shape. Black top attached with a great red skirt, a vision evoking an image of a heart to end the show.
