Eric Tibusch invites us in to his creative universe to share with us his latest ready-to-wear “à portée de main” Spring-Summer collection 2015 ....And That´s it!

Driven by his audacious creativity and his flair for sensing what women want, fashion designer Eric Tibusch is proud to present his new vision of ready-to-wear, named “à portée de main” at highly desirable if not somewhat unbelievable prices during Fashion Week ! Along with this collection of pieces freely and seamlessly glorifying the female form, a line of fantasy jewellery has just been added.

Whilst it is true that the head office of the Fashion House creates a sense of anticipation and eagerly awaits your arrival to discover the collection, to be captivated and overwhelmed by it, it is finally revealed through these forms...

Today for me fashion is very boring. All the major fashion houses on the market live on perfume and make up.

T:Tell me about the new collection.

E: It is totally Parisian. For the girl who live cosmopolitan lifestyles. She loves Paris, but she isn´t french. She can be from anywhere else then Paris: Japanese, Israelis, Muslim or Chinese.

T: For your new COLLECTION every design HAVE ONE POCKET. WHY IS THIS?

E: What do you do when you don´t know what to do with your hand? You put one hand in one pocket while the other hand is holding a glass of champagne for example. If you have a pocket and attitude you feel comfortable. One is for the attitude and the other hand is for the  character. My girls, my customers have characters. They know exactly what they want. They don´t need a man. She is in control of her own life. This is what my collection is all about, attitude. If she wants baby doll, she can go to another brand.

T: WHAT IS FASHION FOR YOU TODAY?

E: Today for me fashion is very boring. All the major fashion houses on the market live on perfume and make up. For them it is mostly about advertisement now, not the garment itself. This is how most of them present their new collection through an advertisement of their new lipstick. This is not fashion for me, which is why I created this new ready to wear. Which is also seen as a scandal at the moment, because I am the first one to create ready to wear from 50 euro to 400 euro.  I create the first mass market collection from a haute couture house making luxury for everyone. - And that´s it!

Paris controls everything. Today the customer don´t want to wear the same clothes. The new age wants new brands, something totally different.

T: I KNOW YOU ARE MOVING INTO CHINA NOW and HAVING HEARD YOU TALK ABOUT it PREVIOUSLY, I AM CURIOUS HOW YOU KNOW THE CHINESE MARKET THIS WELL?

E: I just have to look at the street. For them it is all about the colors, if you wear black it´s like you are going to a funeral. Mix and match of patterns and colors in different shades is what it is about. They love the green we don´t love.

T: WHERE DOES YOUr INSPIRATION COME FROm?

E: My inspiration comes from the cinema. I love american movies, especially from the 30s.

Italian movies are also amazing. I can see 20 movies in a row if I like to.

The first that catches my attention is the soundtrack, just by this I normally have the image and the universe in my mind for my next collection.

T:IF YOU WERE TO PICK ANOTHER DESIGNER THAT YOU REALLY RESPECT, WHO WOULD IT BE?

E: So many, but a lot of them are dead noe.  Jean Paul and John Galliano. I love a designer with a strong personality. One that does his or her own thing.

I also love the work by Jun Takahashi for Undercover.

T:WHAT WILL WE SEE FROM ERIC TIBUSH NOW IN THE FUTURE ?

E: RTW for mens will arrive soon. Very masculine, part creative, but not too much.

T: WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE DIRECTORs?

E: I love Tim Burton, Spielberg and Walt Disney. They create a complete different universe. With other movies it is so easy to guess the ending. Disney also presents the women as independent women and not as a women in search for a man any longer, which is the type of girl that would wear my collection.

T: WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE ACTRESS?

E: I love Angelina Jolie. She cares of nothing, but she is a good person. I thought she was especially good in Disney´s creation Maleficent.

THE PORTRAIT OF ERIC TIBUSCH
AND OF HIS FASHION

Born on January 6, 1972, from the beginning, Eric Tibusch was constantly observing his surroundings. With his mother, grandmother, and brother always near, he grew up with a strong sense of family and love. His close relationship to his mother gave him a unique view and respect for the feminine world. His German-born father worked in the Foreign Legion, which provided Eric with a militaristic, strong example that has also influenced him throughout his life. The dichotomy of his feminine, beautiful mother, loving grandmother, and masculine father have mingled together to form the designer’s bold yet ethereal artistic expression.

At 7 years old, in the workshop of his mother’s dress-maker, he made dresses for his cousins’ Barbie doll with scraps of fabric. These tiny designs marked the beginning of Tibusch’s long and successful career in fashion. When he was old enough, he went to Switzerland to model and work in sales to learn the basics of his future career: “I directly corrected the garments on the clients’ bodies so that they should perfectly fit them! So I learned to dress bodies, women very accurately «. Eric Tibusch moved on from there to work for eight years with Jean-Paul Gaultier, where he had valuable experience managing the heritage of the fashion house, the dressmaking salons, the Cou- ture sales, the Haute Couture clients, and later special events. Curious and eager to learn, he care- fully observed the way the clothes were made from every angle, learning the best practices and the worst.

After this life-changing experience, he moved on to work at a leading fur design studio for two years. He discovered fashion designers bringing an innovative vision of luxury in the way they worked on this lush material. For the future fashion designer, very inspired by nature and passion- ate about skins and furs, this was a revelation. When a friend advised him to create his own label -already recognizing his innate sense of style- he knew that he would become a fashion designer.
