A Colorful Basketball Court By Pigalle Between Paris Apartments
Ill-Studio has collaborated with French imprint Pigalle to create a multicoloured basketball court between strips of Parisian buildings in the 9th arrondissement. The court, which Pigalle founder Stephan Ashpool often frequents when training local youths, was first renovated in 2009 with the help of Nike, before undergoing another transformation in 2014 when Pigalle launched its basketball store located nearby.Ill-Studio took inspiration from a 1930s artwork called Sportsmen by Russian artist Kasimir Malevich.
"Sportsmen is one of our favourite paintings of all time," said the studio. "We were attracted to the subjects of the painting, but also the strong colours and graphic composition that matched the direction we had in mind."
Located on Rue Duperré, be sure to check out the court for yourself if you’re in the area.
