“No Work Today” at Joshua Liner Gallery
"No work today" This might be the title of Pieter "Parra" Janssen`s exhibition at Joshua Liner Gallery, NY, last year but it certainly was not something the Dutch artist was able to say during its preparation. The installation consisted of 12 new artworks and featured not only paintings but also a life-sized sculpture. Take a look at the gallery above and you might notice that - besides the frequent use of the color blue and red - most of the pictures contain curved lines and almost no sharp edges. While Parra`s usual works are dominated by characters with bird-like features and female characters, "No Work Today" is focusing on the distinctive and voluptuous curves of the female body.
Interesting fact: Parra stumbled over his talent when he was designing party flyers. Let`s hope his work will be on display in other countries as well, so we can pay it a visit when - well - we have "no work" that day.
"No work today" was on display from November 17th, 2016 to December 17th, 2016. The same gallery is currently holding an exhibition dedicated to late boxing champion Muhammad Ali.
And... That`s it!
