FLONAKED SS17 PRESENTATION
This season, Chinese independent designer brand FLONAKED had its spotlight when they gave the invitees a treat for this season. On October 19th, the brand showed a collection collaborating with Universal Pictures’ Minions, thus the “yellow MINIONS” collection was born.
The collection was a true combination of the brand elements and the uniqueness of world-known characters Minion. Bright colours, motives, and prints was seen through the show. Wendy Zhang, FLONAKED’s designer who’s well known for her prints of French toile used plots from the movie to start on, and mixing and matching for more than a month to create the prints for this collection after 100 trials of editing and adjusting.
The meaning of the brand title “FLONAKED” comes from the word “flo” an abbreviation of “flower” which hints the kaleidoscopic part of the modern society, and “naked”, a word of honest and royal to express one’s personality. Designer Wendy Zhang graduated from Centrail Saint Martins, receiving a degree of Fashion Print major. Worked with Alexander McQueen & Diane Von Frustenberg before, she’s known for a deep understanding of style and textile designer. During her early days, she was recommended by DVF as a responsible officer to work for creative director of Dior women John Galliano, in charge for embroidery.
We believe this is not the last we will see from a collaboration between FLONAKED and Universal Pictures in the future. Designer Wendy Zhang elaborated in a short interview after the show, that it was a pleasure to be able to haven worked with such a great name and she is excited to see what the future will bring. This is the beginning of a new friendship.
