Paris Apartment Refurbished by UdA Architects
Founded by Andrea Marcante and Adelaide Testa, the Turin-based architecture studio UdA Architects recently refurbished a 180 sqm Parisian penthouse located in Saint Germain Des Près. The client, Isis Colombe Combréas, managing director and editor-in-chief of the magazines MilK and MilK Decoration, her husband and two children, had very specific requests regarding the new layout, furnishing, decoration and the timing, primordial for them, up to 3 months. Before the renovation started, the apartment initially combined numerous historical and artistic elements which had to be preserved or re-utilized in an ideal harmony.
After a very meticulous planning, cautiously following the clients' demands and by mixing up traditional Italian and French taste, the design team managed to re-configurate the loft into a pleasant, functional family living space. Most of the separations between the different rooms were revamped. Communal areas such as the kitchen as well as private zones were re-thought, in order to create a homey atmosphere where parents and children could enjoy their time together, but also get their own space and privacy when needed.
The loft brightness has been retained and amplified, by reducing the number of walls, filling in the empty portions with contemporary perforated iron screens, yet atypical, beautifully vanishing with the other elements.
The results are stunning !
And... That's it !
