Fritz Hansen’s Apartment Showroom
Fritz Hansen, also known as Republic of Fritz Hansen, is a Danish furniture design company. This year, they held an exhibition in which the Republic of Fritz Hansen Store in Milan, during the Salone del Mobile, was designed like an entire apartment that looked as if the residents had ‘popped out’ on an errand. The stylist Christine Rudolph was the mastermind behind the apartment. The show-room apartment was a great showcase for presenting new furniture and colours from designers and artists such as Jaime Hayon and Tal R.
Stylist Christine Rudolph explained, “Every place has its own personality, which is complimented by this furniture. It doesn’t take over the space, but adds a unique textural aspect to the place. There is a huge variation in Fritz Hansen’s furniture - colours, materials like leather, canvas, metal, wood, but it was most important for me to show how harmoniously they fit into the context.”
The success of the show-room apartment can be measured with ‘Witness Apt’ (NY), ‘The Line’ (NY and LA), ‘The Apartment’ (Copenhagen) and a few more coming up in Paris and LA, the concept of a showroom apartment is becoming the new and modern way to experience and shop interior design. A huge number of visitors said “I’d like to live here.” With this, its going to become very interesting to see how other forward-thinking brands will continue with this unique concept.
