“Made in China” Art | Porcelain Costumes by Li Xiaofeng
Li XiaoFeng is one-of-a-kind Chinese artist who, originally from Beijing, creates delicate, yet fragile dresses and other astonishing garments entirely made of Chinese porcelain from his home country's ancient dynasties, Song, Ming, Yuan and Qing. Playing with colors, typical patterns as well as the porcelain stiffness, he does more than simply assemble thousands of small pieces of glass. He aims to mix novelty with tradition, erase the cliché behind "made in China" labels and above all, pass a poetic message to the world.
“My work is a wonderful platform through which people from all around the world can enjoy the Chinese culture.” stated the artist.
A few years ago, Li XiaoFeng, the visionary, has been commissioned by Lacoste and Alexander McQueen to conceive incredible garments. For these collaborations, he had to slightly modify his technique. Using hand made and painted porcelain items, he sewn the fragments on leather pieces to create unique wearable clothing. View some of his incredibly unique pieces above!
And... That's it !
