A Chalet In Madrid’s sky
There is a fun paradox that always takes place when deciding whether to live in an urban area vs a rural one. Some prefer having the convenience and excitement of the city, while others appreciate having their own space, view and kind of a nature feeling. Either way, seems like solutions always lie in the compromise….
Not Always! And Madrid shows it!
The transformation of the 12th floor of a 60’s tower in the heart of Spain’s capital designed by i!arquitectura led by Idoia Otegui aims to prove that having both the beauty of the city and your own little paradise can always be the third option.
Named “a Chalet in Madrid’s sky”, the 80sq m dwelling is based across two levels. Bearing a main concept in mind of bringing the countryside into the city, the first floor accommodates not only a living room with a marble chimney, a wooden boiserie, kitchen with an exterior dining space and a spacious bedroom with a dressing room but also a large terrace with a magnificent view over the entire city and spiced up by a “kidney shaped” swimming pool, similar to the ones in American road motels.
Meanwhile, a spiral staircase punctuates through an octagonal opening leading up to a 360 degree lounge area fitted out with padded seating. The space serves for everything and nothing at the same time and that is the beauty of it! A place to catch up with friends, read a book or simply just relax and enjoy the view.
Whoever lives in this alluring apartment will definitely fully enjoy having the best of both worlds!
And That’s it!
