The future is here: World’s first fully-manned hoverbike
Looking through the human history of transportation, it seems like we have been dedicated to seeking ways to improve our mobility since the stone age. From the very first animal-drawn vehicle to today’s essential transports we cannot live without: bicycles, motor cars, trains, airplanes, etc. All these inventions have allowed people to travel from place to place much easier and more efficient, which contribute a significant part of human society’s development.
Recently, a Russian company - Hoversurf has unveiled the first commercial hoverbike that reform the human mobility once again. This latest prototype: Scorpion-3 is electric-powered with a motorcycle seat and quadcopter drone technology that can lift itself and a pilot into the air. The hoverbike is capable of reaching up to 10 metres height and traveling up to 50 kilometres per hour, while carrying up to 120 kilograms.
According to Hoversurf, it is definitely safe to drive the hoverbike. The bike’s custom software is able to limit the vehicle’s range and velocity in order to assure a safe ride and also allows both manual and automated control, which is ideal for either amateur or professional navigators. The vehicle is designed to make flying as simple as riding a bike!
Scorpion-3 is not only associated to extreme sports, but also offering possible new opportunities in many other fields. For instance, Dubai has recently announced to launch ‘taxi drone’ in the city, with similar high-tech modes of transportation; the U.S. military partnered with Malloy Aeronautics to build a hoverbike that could help soldiers in the field…We can totally see the huge potential of the hoverbike in the future.
Imagine taking your hoverbike to work and avoid all the traffic jams, how does that sound?
