These macarons are too cute to eat

These macarons are too cute to eat

Most people think of macarons as a typical French dessert, mostly sold at expensive department stores or served at fancy birthday parties. However, macarons have found fans on the other side of the planet as well. Ever since French luxury bakery Laduree opened its doors in Tokyo in 2007, Japanese customers have been flocking to the store to savour these sweet little treats. And even created their own, typical Japanese versions.

For this year's spring collection, Japanese convenience store Lawson is selling three new flavors - Vanilla, Strawberry and Cherry Blossom - with two of them having cherry blossoms and strawberries printed on the surface, making them look as sweet as they probably taste. They are on sale until March 5th and cost approx. $3.5 per piece.

Japanese food manufacturers sell new products with every season and festival - especially during the up-coming cherry blossom season. If you plan a trip to Japan during this season be sure to pay local convenience stores a visit.

And... That's it!
