US fashion retailer American Rag Cie has made its China debut
American Rag Cie, one of the most iconic American retailers in the US, has settled down with its new store in Shanghai inside Crystal Galleria shopping center in Jing´ An. Bringing the chilled and easygoing lifestyle from Los Angeles, California to Shanghai.
In such shopping metropolis, occupied with much of the same luxury concept on every corner, we want something new.
While it might seem that there are already a fair number of followers of such fine fashion we were told by the China PR representatives of the American lifestyle multi-brand destination, that American Rag Cie celebrates heritage, authenticity, craft and innovation of product along with the stories and lifestyle behind the brands and designers. Shirts and dresses on racks next to large vintage trunks, footwear and eyewear besides old baseball gloves and western saddles. Jeans in all variations and a big piano turned to a seat. Yes this is what you can expect when walking into an American Rag Cie store. Pieces that take you on a walk down memory lane– it is as far away from the usual fashion store as it can get. And we love it!
American Rag Cie offers a vide range of independent designer brands from shoes to sunglasses, hats and bags as well as its own label that includes the very heart of the American Rag brand, the denim jeans. These jeans are either selvedge handcrafted in Japan or made in Los Angeles. We were told to shop from Kuro, Blue Blue, Spellbound, and FDMTL which are some of their top denim brands.
Certainly, the price points are competitive and American Rag Cie does look like a serious denim contender, first of all it was how it all started and as we were told by representatives of the American Rag Cie China team that “denim is coming back. Today denim is being used in so many new ways, we see designers use it in different ways. So everyone should own a pair of denim”. And if casualwear is also wanted, the rest of their products will also be on the shopping list.
We looked at their SS15 products by designers from North America, Europe and Japan, from 80 brands together. We also heard they might bring in their homewear line in the future. I guess we will have to wait to get our hands on one of those grand pianos that are made into a seat.
Experience laid-back, high-quality clothing shopping experience at American Rag Cie.
