Adulting School: The course you wish you had in school
The only thing I remember from school is that mitochondrion is the power house of the cell and a lot of math. And isn't it the same for a lot of people here? How come school doesn't teach you how to adult? The millennials of this generation are growing up confused with having a majority of chances to prove themselves but with a possession of minimal skills. So how do you grow up to be a confident person?
To solve this issue Rachel Weinstein, a psychotherapist from Maine, and Katie Brunelle, a former elementary school teacher, came up with the idea of the Adulting School. Basically it teaches you how to adult and then when you elaborate it teaches you from "how to manage your finances" to "how to hang a picture" and everything in between.
The school, which opens later this spring, will charge $19.99 a month for access to online courses organized into five verticals: basic finances, health and wellness, relationships and community, make it or fix it, and career. The group has already hosted social events in Portland, where it is based, and where it aspires to build an online and offline community of selected experts.
This course is not intended to make adults out of the millennials overnight; it’s to teach us the methods and secrets. Like every other generation, the millennials will learn and become self sufficient one day at a time.
And.. That's It!
