The Super Limited LVC 1976 501® Mirror Jean Sees the World in Reverse
Every fashionista loves a bit of vintage clothing. The right piece of clothing that connects to a specific time, place or trend can literally transport the wearer back in time.
One of the most iconic pieces of clothing of all time are Levi's patented 501 denim. There's undoubtedly been hundreds of denim companies worldwide that have gone in and out of fashion over the years. While Levi's has certainly had it's down years, in the last decade or so, they have definitely drifted into immortal territory - but they have not settled.
For this coming Spring, Levi's has concocted and new (old) design straight from the 1970s. During a time the Ramones were on top of the rock music scene and the Sex Pistols were just emerging, everything was turning into punk rock. Everything was becoming anti-establishment, about going against the grain.
First off, what makes this 501 design special (besides being a model resurrected from the 1970s), it actually has been constructed with deadstock denim (unused and unworn) from the 1970s! On top of that, the denim is "left-hand twill" meaning the jeans are stitched from left to right when they're normally made from right to left. Taking this special stitch along with the "against the grain" thoughts of 1970s punk rock, Levi's ran with the idea of the "mirror jean."
This special edition jean will be limited to only 501 pairs worldwide. All of the jeans will be made with the deadstock denim from the 1970s using "left-hand twill." Adding to the "mirror" idea, the signature Levi's patch is above the back-left jean pocket as opposed to the back-right jean pocket as normal and inscriptions on all of the buttons will be written in reverse.
For vintage collectors and Levi's enthusiasts, the 1976 501 "Mirror Jean" is definite must have!
And... That's It!
