Uniqlo Unveils Its Winning Nintendo-Inspired UT Grand Prix 2017 Designs
For this year’s UT Grand Prix contest, Uniqlo chose to collaborate with an unlikely partner, Nintendo. Uniqlo, as most people know, is one of Japan’s fast fashion giants while Nintendo on the other hand, is most notably known for its games such as Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong and Pokémon. They received a whopping 16,000 entries, most inspired by Nintendo’s favorite games.
The number was shortlisted down to just 25 and eventually, Japan’s Takashi Kawazoe took home the grand prize of $10,000 and a Nintendo Switch signed by none other than Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario, along with his designs on Uniqlo’s hallmark collection.
The funky Mario design Nintendo x Uniqlo UT Grand Prix 2017 collection will be out on May 19 priced at US$9.90 for kids and US$14.90 for adults.
And… That’s it!
