When travel meets technology
Travel has never been so easy and so cheap. Planning is not a chore anymore but more a fun activity, thanks to new technologies. You can now have a detailed 360 view of a hotel room, explore the streets on Google Maps, book seats for a movie, consult the menu at the restaurant or even do a virtual tour of a museum, all this without leaving your couch. For those who do not like unforeseen events or who like having control over their plans it is life changing but on the other hand, travel is also synonym of freedom and unknown and all those new technologies may affect these feelings.
We travel more, faster and more conveniently because of new technologies such as smartphones, social medias, AI, blogs etc. Because we are used to have everything immediately, we have increased our expectations and want most of the time to live a seamless experience at the lowest cost as possible. Technologies have changed our routines and space. Nowadays, technology tries to gather the most functions in one item to save our time and space. For example, the Kindle has replaced books, Spotify the i-pod etc. With the help of technology, we can overcome the language barrier and even learn new languages. Chatbot have become part of the travel, they allow the customer to chat with either a real person or an Artificial Intelligence to answer to questions or give useful information such as boarding pass, gate number or even to change or book a flight. Electronic payment is also a revolution in our travel habits. Indeed, it is very convenient and represents a lower risk while travelling abroad, as there is no need to worry about credit card fraud.
In the following years, new technologies are expected to evolve even more and make our life always more easy. The demand for personalization will probably increase as more and more people wants to live unique experiences, have contact with the locals or just escape the crowd.
